My god daughter, who I talk about all the time, is turning 5! I can't believe how much she has grown in 5 years. She wanted to have a Rio themed party and when her mom came to me for help, I jumped on the opportunity. This was my first real time planning a party all out for a kid so it was definitely a learning experience.
We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and had baked beans for the main course. We had fruit and yogurt dip, chips and salsa, snow cones and cotton candy, and, of course, cake!
For decorations, I mostly just went with luau stuff. My mom had tons of stuff. I didn't even use most of the stuff I borrowed from her. I also printed off pictures of the characters to have around the party and we played music from the movie to really set the scene.
In keeping with the theme we played Pin the Tail on the Toucan. It was adorable. We picked up a cardboard toucan decoration and had the kids tape craft feathers on as tails.
The birthday cake was requested by my friend and made by my sister! She did an amazing job! Everybody at the party was so impressed. I think she may have to go into business!
